Beginning in the muzzleloading business in 1971, as one of the founding owners of 'Mountain State Muzzleloading Supplies, Ed Cain lent his talent and engineering skills to the new business to make it one of the most successful hunting parts suppliers in the area.

Scott Cain entered the business and soon left his mark with his innovative manufacturing skills.

Deciding to focus on manufacturing and the engineering of new parts, the father and son team sold their interest in Mountain State Muzzleloading Supplies in 1994 to devote more time to their new venture, Mountain State Manufacturing (MSM, Inc.).

Products, such as the Spitfire Magnum Nipple and Super-Rods, made a huge splash across the country, and the Spitfire Magnum Nipple was named the New Product of the Year at the 1991 SHOT Show.

Cain's Outdoor, started in business in 1997 to capitalize on the rapidly expanding demand for their manufactured parts, and after Mountain State Muzzleloading Supplies closed their doors in 2001, the Cains purchased the land, building and inventory, and moved back into the same building that they began their business in 1971.

As life members of the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association and founding members of the West Virginia Muzzleloading Association, the Cains have been leaders in the field for more than thirty years. But they don't just make parts and attend meetings, they've been shooting & building muzzleloading rifles since 1967.

Scott was the West Virginia Muzzleloading Association state junior offhand champion in 1979 and 1980 and can give you tips on how to make that rifle more than just a wall ornament.
